This glucose management meter called the OneTouch Ping, has been approved by the FDA for sale in the United States.
The system works like this, there is a small insulin pump that attaches to your belt or clothing and depending on what the meter is reading for your glucose level, will deliver a proper dose of insulin to a catheter planted under the skin. There is no need to even touch the pump since it's getting the information wirelessly. The system is also waterproof for 24 hours in up to 12 feet of water.
The thing that makes this so great is that the person no longer has to figure or guess how much insulin is required in each shot because the meter will help you to determine that. For those who have diabetes and are dependent on insulin, this meter and pump system could be a real blessing.

ah, I didn't realize that this was actually like a closed loop system... I thought it was more like an omnipod. My interest is rekindled!
