For the past year I have had an incredible craving for ice. It turns out that ice eating is considered a form of pica. Pica is the eating of things that are not meant to be food. Studies have found that eating ice is an indication of an iron deficiency for which you can have blood tests to determine the cause. Having said all that, I still like to eat ice. I finally bought an ice crusher so that I wouldn't break my teeth on the large cubes I had been eating.
The reason I bring this up is that aside from the possible iron deficiency, I believe that nothing could be as good of a snack for you than ice. You need the water in your body anyway and ice is crunchy and can be naturally flavored without adding fat or calories or even sugar. For me it has helped a lot having it before meals and in between.
Try it as part of your daily diet and remember that sometimes the simplest things are often the best!
