There could be a possible link between carpal tunnel and diabetes. A small study determined that 36 percent of their test subjects who developed diabetes had carpal tunnel first.

They believe it's worth looking into further because diabetes does affect nerves, so people who have nerve type problems may be on their way to developing diabetes. As in any disease, it is always best to discover it as early as possible, giving you a chance to "nip it in the bud".

They did admit the study was too small to draw fast conclusions, but it gives you a reason to check it out before major damage may be done.
