LET'S TALK WALK !

I believe the best exercise is walking. It costs nothing to do. You need no special equipment. You can do as much or as little as you want. You don't even need to leave your home if you don't want to, just walk in place.

Diabetics especially need some kind of exercise. It is part of the way you are going to save your own life. Here are a couple of walking tips.

Become a mall walker. Most malls open their doors an hour or two before the stores inside do. Many people have taken to coming to the mall and just walking for the exercise at that time. It's inside, it's safe, it's full of others there for the same reason, and provides a kind of track to follow, with benches, restrooms, and water coolers all along the way. Plus you get to window shop while you're walking! You can walk at your own pace. The only unspoken rule seems to be is that you walk in the same direction as everyone else, that way you don't bump into anyone.

Like to watch television ? How about commercial walking in place or around the house till the commercial breaks are over and your show comes back on? Or walk during the show and rest at commercials if that's all you can do at one time.

Do you have stairs in your building or house? Maybe once or more times per day you can walk the stairs several times or flights.

My personal favorite is to put my headphones on, tune into my very favorite dancing music and either walk in place or dance.
